LEARNING SPECIALIST
To know truth. To make beauty. To do good.
Jasmine’s Bio
Ms Jasmine Ang is a Learning Specialist at Bootstrap. She graduated from NUS with a degree in Southeast Asian studies. While embarking on anthropological research on Thai cultural studies in partnership with Thammasat University, Bangkok, and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, she had the opportunity to travel to various provinces of Thailand to explore the socio-political trends that propel differentiated forms of cultural expression.
While staying in Bangkok, Jasmine volunteered at the Princess Siridhon Anthropology Centre where she assisted in organizing a biannual museum festival, and was immersed in the depth of Thai and Southeast Asian cultures. She also volunteered at the Thailand Association of the Blind, where she had the opportunity to learn from people who find the mental and emotional strength to achieve their goals despite the odds.
As a self-starter with a natural flair in design, Jasmine embarked on an early career designing clothes for children and started a business where she learnt the importance of giving customers what they want. Her passion for the arts was formalized in Vancouver and Toronto, where she undertook projects at various institutions in the fields of Graphic Design and Fine Arts for a period of 6 years. However, Jasmine believes that beauty and aesthetics are culturally specific and socially defined concepts; thus she returned to the region to pursue deeper understanding of cultures through ethnographic and anthropological perspectives.
She also represented Singapore at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games as a member of the National Women’s Basketball Team.
Jasmine completed her Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment in 2010 and remains dedicated to promoting Learning and Development as a stepping stone towards betterment.
